What Gamers Can Expect From 2022

Gaming has become one of the most successful industries of our age. With hundreds of thousands of games being right at our fingertips, it is no wonder that millions of people young and old identify as gamers. Whether you play competitive League of Legends, or simply boot up Minecraft from time to time, you are plugging into a web of creativity that reaches all over the globe. Every year, gamers can look forward to a steady flow of new games to explore. Let’s take a look at what’s coming out this year!

January Thru April 2022

If you dabble in the gaming sphere, you probably already know some of the incredible games that have been released this year. Pokemon Legends: Arceus has taken the Pokemon fanbase by storm, with incredible new graphics and game dynamics. You now need to aim accordingly to throw pokeballs, while earning achievements for each pokemon in particular. Pokemon has also recently announced Generation 9 and Pokemon Violet and Scarlet, which has fans waiting on the edge of their seats.

Monster Hunter Rise was introduced this January, receiving high praise. However, this praise was nothing compared to the success of this year’s most anticipated game, Elden Ring. This first-person game brought about by the creators of Dark Souls has completely captivated the gamer community, with its astonishing graphics and riveting story elements. If you can only pick one game this year, thousands of players would recommend Elden Ring. In April, we can look forward to games like LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.

May Thru August 2022

Though there are not as many games with release dates during this period, there are still some noteworthy titles worth getting excited for. Evil Dead is set to release on May 13th on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and switch. No matter what you play on, this game is a highly-anticipated pick. Additionally, June is going to bring about Mario Strikers: Battle League for the Nintendo Switch. Paired with Nintendo Sports releasing for the Switch on April 29th, there is no shortage of exciting releases for devoted Switch players.

September Thru December 2022

The last third of this year has very few titles set to release, including Starfield and Gotham Knights. However, this doesn’t mean we won’t get tons of new games towards the end of this year. Minecraft has been predicted to announce a new update this year, in addition to the endless random or seed-influenced worlds it creates. Also, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel has a release date of this year. Though we can’t be sure when these titles will drop, we can be sure they are well on their way.

It’s easy to get impatient when waiting for new sequels to games we already love, like Slime Rancher 2 and Kerbal Space Program 2. Though all of these are set to drop this year, complications often arise. Sometimes release dates change, and production gets pushed back on our favorite titles. But fear not, because there is no shortage of extraordinary games that are on their way this year.
